The 2026 Selkirk Allegro will be held on Sunday 20th September in the County Hotel

30 Aug 2026: Selkirk Championship crosstables

The details of this season's Selkirk Championship have now been finalised. This year the championship is split into two sections of seven players each: a Major section and a Minor section, and the initial crosstables and a summary of the rules can be read in the Club News page...

The two sections will mean that fewer games will need to be played. It should also provide an extra interest, with two divisions to follow.

18 Aug 2026: Selkirk Allegro arranged for next month

In conjunction with Scottish Chess Tour, the inaugural Selkirk Allegro will be held in the County Hotel on Sunday 20th September.  It will be a 5-round FIDE rated tournament, with time controls of 20+10:   20 minutes for all moves plus an increment of 10 seconds per move from move 1.

There are two sections (under-1800 and under-1300) so every club player can enter a section that suits their grading.

Each entrant will receive a £5 voucher to be used for a discount off a lunch time meal.

Entries are limited to 60, and we already have 24 entries, so please act soon if you would like to enter. It's guaranteed to be a good day.

Full details and an online entry form can be found at https://www.congress.org.uk/congress/806/home .
